Embodied Enquiry Special: Parenting And The Pandemic
10th June 2020
10.30am - 12.00pm BST
Zoom code will be sent following purchase of your ticket.
This session is especially for parents.
It will be lead by Movement Educator and Embodiment Coach, Manal Aldabbagh and hosted by Rachel Blackman
For most of us during this pandemic we are spending more time at home with our children than ever before, and let's be honest, sometimes we get sick of it. And cabin fever works both ways so we are pretty sure our kids are finding us just as challenging. As parents, we are under an unprecedented amount of pressure to do and be everything for our kids and we often fall short.
On a good day it is manageable. On a bad day, it can be overwhelming.
In this session, we will explore
- what it means to prioritise our own self care
- what 'state regulation' means and why it matters.
- why taking your coffee to the bathroom to drink it in peace doesn't make you horrible person.
- and why doing crafts with your kids in every waking hour, doesn't win you all the parenting points.
Rachel has wanted to run a session on parenting and what it means under lockdown, for a month of two. She has found that many of her clients and friends are being driven around the twist by this particular challenge. Thrown into a kind of '50's housewife / househusband' scenario where suddenly all private space and time has evaporated. The stuff of nightmares.
Manal is developing a body of work on parenting and will soon be offering a course supporting people to develop healthier somatic practices for a more enjoyable experience of parenting. Rachel and Manal decided an enquiry like this was necessary and timely.
Rachel is a parent PART of the time, for her step son Akash.
Manal is a parent ALL the time for her sons Ibraheem and Omar and she knows a lot more about all this than Rachel.
Come as you are and connect with other parents and know that you are not alone.
If money is tight, please use the coupon code ARGGH! at check out for a £5 ticket.
Love from Rachel and Manal
